Seattle Restaurant Week happens twice a year, and it’s a pretty popular program amongst the food community in Seattle. It’s a pretty amazing deal with either 3 courses at lunch for $18/ or 3 courses at dinner for $32. Over 160 restaurants in King County participate so there is definitely something for everyone.
This year I partnered with Seattle Restaurant Week to share my recent dining experience at Coastal Kitchen in Capitol Hill. This restaurant has been on my radar for quite some time because fellow food lover & blogger Kristie of KFCLovesYou is always posting delicious stories of their food on her IG. After sitting behind my iPhone basically drooling all over myself, I figured it was about time to taste their yummy dishes first hand.
Coastal Kitchen describes themselves as a fish house & oyster bar. They have a rotating menu inspired by various coastal regions, and currently, the focus is on The Carolinas. Featuring fresh seafood and land options from local farms, their offerings are infused with a Southern flare. They also have a bright Oyster Bar where you can sit and slurp down as many freshly shucked oysters as your heart’s desire.
When we walked in, I definitely got a beachy, coastal vibe. I loved the retro accents and the wrap around bar counter. It felt very homey and unpretentious, which is a nice change considering how hip some of the spots on the Hill can be. We asked to sit at the Oyster Bar because it had the best lighting and you guys know I’m always #doingitforthegram.
Adam added a made from scratch Spicy Bloody Mary to his Seattle Restaurant Week 3 course lunch for an additional $9. He said it had a nice kick and finished the whole thing, so I will assume he thoroughly enjoyed it.
We ended our meals on a sweet note with their Keylime Pie (normally priced at $8.25). I was so full we ended up splitting a slice and packing one to go. I would happily pay the full price for this pie. It was tart, creamy and sweet just like a proper key lime pie should be. The graham cracker crust is made fresh, and you could tell they know exactly what they are doing because it didn’t crumble and fall apart when scooped into. It stayed nicely intact so that I had some buttery, graham crackery goodness in each bite.
I would say my 3-course lunch at Coastal Kitchen for Seattle Restaurant Week was a definite success. I look forward to going back in the near future for brunch and trying their pancakes and praline bacon appetizer. I’d love to hear where you went for Restaurant Week, so feel free to drop me a line in the comments below!
Cheers,
Sonya
